Rosh Chodesh Elul - Fast and Daven to Prevent the Swine Flu

Sephardic Chief Rabbi, Shlomo Amar, is calling on the public to fast next Wednesday, Rosh Hodesh Elul, in order to stop the quickly spreading swine flu in Israel. Ovadia Yosef, has joined the call, as have additional rabbis.

Meanwhile, a new report from the Health Ministry reveals that the virus is quickly spreading. 3,000 Israelis were suspected of contracting the H1N1 virus last week, as compared to just under 2,000 in the last week of July, and just under 1,000 the week before that.

A 62-year-old woman died on Tuesday at the Hadassah Ein Karem Hospital from complications of the swine flu, becoming the 10th person in Israel to succumb to the pandemic.
